DOB May 14, 1913 - New York, NY. Inducted May 1, 1942 - Ft. Dix, NJ. Prior Service: 5 years NYNG.NCO Basic Recruit INST-May '42 thru Sept. '43 - Co "L" - 309th Regt - 78th Div - Cp Butner, NC. TFRD-AAC-Aerial Gunner - Tyndall Field, FL - Sept.'43. Crew formed - Kearns, Utah. B-24 Combat Crew Trng-Nov '43 thru Feb '44 - Biggs Field, TX. Flew to ETO - B-24 from Topeka AFB, KS by way of Ft. Elaza, Brazil to Dakar, Africa enroute to Italy-March-April '44. Assigned to 96th Bomb Sqdn - 2nd Bomb Grp-15th AF on B-17s.

On July 16, 1944 my 32nd mission our B-17 was shot down by Flak - south of Vienna, Austria. Flak wound rt. leg - one KIA- Bombardier - nine POWs captured that day.

POW # 6777 - Ten months at Stalag Luft IV and Luft I. Liberated by Russians May 13, 1945. Honorable Discharge October 10, 1945. One Purple Heart Awarded.
