Russell Salter Shaw, Jr. born in Attleboro to the late Russell Shaw, Sr. and Lottie (Davey) Altstien, lived in Plainville for the past 15 years. Mr. Shaw was an electrician for the former Dodgeville Finishing Company for many years and later for the Slater Dye Works of Pawtucket before retiring in 1991.

He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II. His plane was shot down over Germany while returning to his base in Italy after a mission and was forced to bail out into the sea. He spent 13 months in a POW camp.

Mr. Shaw was former member of the Second Congregational Church of Attleboro and a member of the Ezekiel Bates Lodge of Masons of Attleboro for 50 years. His wife of 50 years, and two daughters, Bonnie Croteau of Margate, FL and Debra Davignon of North Attleboro and four grandchildren survive him.
