Bio:

Born in Smithfield, IL. 2-15-15 to Robert James Mason and Sadie Bell Kimes Mason .Enlisted 3-12-41 in Peoria ,Ill. Sent to Camp McCoy, Wisconsin where he met my Mom (Ruby C. Loomis) who was from Baraboo, WI. They married-8-16-1943. He was sent off to England, Wales, and then to Normandy. He fought with the 2nd Division, 9th infantry, 3rd Platoon. He was captured Oct.3,1944 and taken to POW Camp Kristine @ Limberg, Germany. He was held 6 months till freed by a Russian Woman Soldier (3-44). After returning home he became the father to 3 daughters (Karen,Judy,Janice) and 1 son ,(James). He was killed Friday, March 5th,1999, at the age of 84 in a car accident in Two Rivers, WI.
