Bio:
Russell Salter Shaw, Jr. born in Attleboro to the late Russell Shaw, Sr.
and Lottie (Davey) Altstien, lived in Plainville for the past 15 years.
Mr. Shaw was an electrician for the former Dodgeville Finishing Company
for many years and later for the Slater Dye Works of Pawtucket before
retiring in 1991.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II. His
plane was shot down over Germany while returning to his base in Italy
after a mission and was forced to bail out into the sea. He spent 13
months in a POW camp.
Mr. Shaw was former member of the Second Congregational Church of
Attleboro and a member of the Ezekiel Bates Lodge of Masons of Attleboro
for 50 years. His wife of 50 years, and two daughters, Bonnie Croteau of
Margate, FL and Debra Davignon of North Attleboro and four grandchildren
survive him.
