Biography
Theron Luther Powell, was born February 23, 1925 in Augusta, GA. He spent his childhood and youth on the family farm in Grovetown, GA. He served as a ball gunner on a B-17 in the 15th Army Air Corps during World War II. After his plane was shot down in Italy, he was captured and was a prisoner of war in Germany until liberation. He married Estoria Eliza Hill in 1946 and reared six children in Memphis, TN. He retired from the Veterans' Administration after years of service in Memphis and Atlanta. He enjoyed an active retirement in Lawrenceville, GA, working with many Veterans' organizations, especially the American Ex-Prisoners of War.
